Our Purpose

We believe Grace Church of Newark was established to reach a lost and dying world, starting with our local circle of influence and extending to the ends of the earth as instructed. While we aim to connect with our local community, we also aspire to reach people worldwide by providing funding and participating in mission trips to engage with unreached groups.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”

—Acts 1:8

At Grace Church of Newark, we are committed to discipling the people the Lord brings to us. Our responsibility is to train and equip the saints for the work God has called us to. We will administer a spiritual gifts test to each person, identify their gifts and callings, and then help them develop those skills so they can be empowered and released to fulfill their calling.

This discipleship process will include, as mentioned earlier, the spiritual gifts test, along with many other tools we will make available. Our goal is to facilitate weekly Bible studies, home groups, and mission trips for those who are called. We also aim to offer men’s and women’s ministries and retreats, with the hope that these will become integral parts of our church. Pastor Frank and the church leadership will consider any ideas brought forward, as we want everyone to know that this is their church—belonging not to the pastor or the leaders, but to the body of Christ.

We also seek to lead people into a deeper level of worship through song and prayer. While we will set an example during church services and provide teaching, we strongly encourage all attendees to have personal devotional time with the Lord. This is when you will grow closer to Him and come to know Him more deeply.

Please remember that Grace Church of Newark has been established by God for His people. It will be used to populate Heaven and plunder Hell, helping all saints walk in daily victory and supporting them through tough times. This is what the Church is all about.

“Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned”

—Mark 16:16

Grace Church of Newark recognizes two ordinances:

Baptism

We believe that one a person comes to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, there comes a point where they need to be baptized.

The Word baptism here is the Greek word ‘Baptizo’, which means to be submerged, so we do baptize by submersion. This can be done in a pool, pond, or even the ocean.

Communion

We believe that every believer should partake in communion as instructed to us by Paul:

“For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me”. In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”

—I Corinthians 11:23-26
